Harmony Day

It is safe to say that our organisation is Australia in miniature, as both staff and residents represent many ethnic communities.

It is quite appropriate and symbolic then, that Harmony Day celebrations at St Sergius are highlighted by a gathering in our ground floor dining room with our multi talented staff members performing songs and dances dear to their cultures.

This year was no different and the audience warmly applauded the folkloric dancers – the grace and flow
of Thai dancers, the beautiful costume and skill of the dancer from Kyrgyzstan, the fiery movement and
Eastern flavour of the Serbian young women.

The Gypsy dance seemed to capture the heart of our audience, driven a melody filled with emotion
and changing rhythms from slow swoon to a hurricane of sound. With their full crimson skirts
whirling the dancers drew an excited reaction from the audience.
